News Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway Bring Boom! Back to Manhattan May 3-7; Concerts to Be Recorded Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway, who debuted their critically acclaimed concert act Boom! last year at Manhattan's Town Hall, offer a limited engagement of that program beginning May 3 at Birdland.

The Callaway sisters will play the famed jazz venue through May 7. Show times each night are 8:30 PM and 11 PM.

Boom!, according to press notes, "celebrates the soundtrack of these sisters' childhood with unforgettable songs from the '60s and '70s." Expect songs made famous by Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Carly Simon, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Jimmy Webb and Stevie Wonder.

The actresses also "share heartwarming and humorous stories of their years growing up in Chicago and New York." Song titles include "Both Sides Now," "Up, Up and Away," "That's the Way I've Always Heard It Should Be," "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?" and "Downtown," among others.
The Callaways are accompanied by Alex Rybeck (musical director, pianist, arranger, back-up vocals), Jared Egan (bass and back-up vocals) and Ron Tierno (drums). Dan Foster directs.

Not only a singer, Ann Hampton Callaway is also an acclaimed songwriter, whose works have been performed by Barbra Streisand, Patti LuPone and dozens of others. For her Broadway bow in Swing!, Callaway garnered a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and her many recordings include "Ann Hampton Callaway," "Bring Back Romance," "To Ella with Love" and "After Ours." Callaway is also a recipient of 14 Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Awards. Liz Callaway, most recently on Broadway in The Look of Love, made her Broadway debut in the original cast of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along, and she also took part in the anniversary concert of that musical. For her work in the musical Baby, she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and her other Broadway credits include The Three Musketeers, Miss Saigon and Cats. Callaway's solo recordings include "Passage of Time," "The Beat Goes On," "Anywhere I Wander—Liz Callaway Sings Frank Loesser" and "The Story Goes On."

These concerts will be recorded for future release on the PS Classics label.
