News London Revival of Oliver! to Close in January 2011 The London revival of Oliver!, currently playing the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, will end its two-year run Jan. 8, 2011, according to www.londontheatre.co.uk.

The production of the Lionel Bart musical began previews Dec. 12, 2008, and officially opened Jan. 14, 2009. The cast currently features Kerry Ellis (Nancy), Russ Abbot (Fagin) and Steven Hartley (Bill Sikes).

Oliver! is directed by Rupert Goold, along with co-director and choreographer Matthew Bourne. Production design is by Anthony Ward; lighting design by Paule Constable and sound is by Paul Groothuis, with orchestrations by William D Brohn. The production is produced by Cameron Mackintosh in association with the Southbrook Group Limited.

The opening-night cast featured Rowan Atkinson as Fagin, with Jodie Prenger – who won her role by public vote, following the BBC 1 Reality TV show "I'd Do Anything" – sharing the role of Nancy with Australian Tamsin Carroll.

Oliver! features music, lyrics and book by Lionel Bart and is based on Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist." Bart's score for Oliver! features such tunes as "Food, Glorious Food," "I'd Do Anything," "Consider Yourself" and "As Long As He Needs Me."
