News London's Festen Welcomes New Cast Members and Announces Extension Carol Royle, Paul Nicholls and William Beck have joined the cast of Festen, the critically lauded production that transferred from London’s Almeida Theatre to the West End’s Lyric.

The show, which had already recast once for the transfer, has extended its run until April 9.

Carol Royle, who plays the perplexed matriarch Else (taking over from Jane Asher, one of the original cast members), is a Royal Shakespeare Company veteran. William Beck, as Christian’s brother Michael, appeared with the National Youth Theatre and the Workhouse Theatre, but his highest-profile work to date has been on screen in such movies as “Snatch” and the TV series “Serious and Organised” and “The Bill.”

Festen is adapted from Thomas Vinterberg’s movie of the same name. Written by David Eldridge, it is produced in the West End by Marla Rubin and Bill Kenwright. The cast also includes Sam Beazley, Sam Cox, Jason Baughan, Andrew Maud, Morven Christie, Stephen Moore, Susannah Wise, Patrick Robinson, Lisa Palfrey, Michael Thomas, Emily Eastell, Clemmie Hooten, Alice Knight and understudies Christopher Birch, Katherine Grice, Daniel Gosling and Valentine Hanson.
