There are still plans to bring the show to a Broadway house, which will prevent the D.C. run, but there are hopes that the musical inspired by The Merry Wives of Windsor will play the Folger at a future date.

"The producers of Lone Star Love plan to bring the musical to Broadway sometime in 2007," a spokesperson for the writers told Playbill.com. "They do hope to have a production at the Folger sometime in the future after the Broadway production bows."

No dates or details for the Broadway plan have been made public.

What You Will, a Shakespeare evening conceived by and starring Tony Award winner Roger Rees (Nicholas Nickleby, "Cheers") will replace Lone Star Love at the Folger. The Red Clay Ramblers' adaptation of The Merry Wives of Windsor was initially scheduled to run March 24–April 8, 2007.

The Folger stated, "The producers of Lone Star Love remain at a pivotal point in strategic planning for a Broadway run and regrettably cannot commit to a Washington showing at this time. The possibility of a future Folger engagement remains open." What You Will: An Evening By and About the Bard will play the Folger March 30-April 1, 2007.

According to the Folger, "Rees has developed What You Will as a celebration of Shakespeare's works, incorporating hysterical, historical, and histrionic observations by notable personalities ranging from David Garrick to George Bernard Shaw to Stevie Wonder."
