Still, she has managed to get knee-deep in awards without any Will power. She has an Obie, a Lortel, an Outer Critics Circle Award and multiple Chicago Jeff Awards. Most of her prizes were won for a 40-minute monologue, playing "The Homebody" in Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul; that performance spanned five years and three different productions. She also appeared in the new Kushner play that world-premiered at the Guthrie in April, 2009—The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures—and she will likely reprise that performance when The Public Theater and Signature Theatre Company co-produce it here March 22-June 12, 2011, at The Public Theater.

Michael Greif, who directed her in the latter, is steering her through her first local brush with the Bard. At least credit her with making a regal entrance into Shakespeare: She will play Hermione, Queen of Sicily, in The Winter's Tale. Numbering among her co-stars are Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Jesse Martin, Jessie Tyler Ferguson, Max Wright and Gerry Bamman.
