They will take their place alongside the previously announced Tony nomineee Jayne Houdyshell, Cassie Beck, Reed Birney and Sarah Steele in Karam's drama about a family gathering in Manhattan for Thanksgiving dinner. Joyve Van Patton will no longer be part of the cast.

Here's how The Humans is described by the theatre: "After a sleepless night, Mr. Blake has brought his family from Pennsylvania to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's new apartment. As darkness falls outside the crumbling pre-war duplex, mysterious things start to go bump in the night and family tensions reach a boiling point. Stephen Karam (Sons of the Prophet, Speech & Debate) takes a fresh look at the hilarity, heart and horrors of the modern American family."

As previously announced, Tony Award winner Joe Mantello will stage the play at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Centre for Theatre. Previews begin Sept. 30; opening night will be Oct. 25; the limited run is scheduled to end Dec. 27. It's part of the Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season.

The Humans is part of Roundabout's New Play Initiative, a collection of programs designed to foster and produce new work by emerging and established artists. The Humans is Karam’s second commission from Roundabout following Sons of the Prophet (2012 Pulitzer Prize Finalist, 2012 Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play; inaugural Sam Norkin Drama Desk Award). Roundabout also produced his 2007 playwriting debut Speech & Debate, which also starred Sarah Steele.

The creative team includes David Zinn (sets), Sarah Laux (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting) and Fitz Patton (sound). The Laura Pels Theatre is located at 111 West 46th Street. For more information, call (212) 719-1300 or visit RoundaboutTheatre.org.
