News Lorna Dallas' London Crusaid Scheduled for April 18

Lorna Dallas, who got a four-star rating in The Guardian today for her Jermyn Street cabaret show, Spring Collection, which runs through April 20, will give a benefit performance of the show at 11 PM on April 18 in aid of Crusaid.

Lorna Dallas first appeared in the West End in the 1970's, when she traveled from New York and the Metropolitan Opera to star in Show Boat with Cleo Laine. She now divides her time between performing on both sides of the Atlantic, primarily in concert and cabaret engagements.

Directed by Barry Kleinbort and with musical direction by Christopher Denny, Spring Colllection contains a wide range of songs, from standards by Cole Porter, Harold Arlen and Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein to little-known gems by Leonard Bernstein, John Dankworth and Cy Coleman — and, of course, a selection of songs from the musicals of her favorite British composer, Ivor Novello.

Her CD, "The Girl I Knew. . . the music of Novello & Kern," won rave reviews when it came out a few years ago, and was named CD of the Year by BBC Music Magazine's theatre critic Micahel Billington.
