Mr. Aborn worked at the company since 1930. He became president there in 1956, after the death of his father. Ever passionate about the theatre and his company, he was working up until January of this year.

In October 2003, Mr. Aborn was saluted by Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut for his life's work. A long-time Goodspeed friend, Mr. Aborn was honored at a musical theatre symposium for all his collaborative efforts with Goodspeed, one of the nation's major producers of musical revivals.

Under Mr. Aborn's leadership, Tams-Witmark has been the agent for many of the most important works of musical theatre, including Kiss Me, Kate, My Fair Lady, Gypsy, Bye Bye Birdie, Hello, Dolly!, Oliver!, Cabaret, Man of La Mancha and A Chorus Line. He was instrumental in working with Goodspeed on such productions as Bells Are Ringing (1990), It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman (1992), Paint Your Wagon (1992), On the Town (1993) and Promises, Promises (1993).

Tams-Witmark "licenses the rights to perform complete, live stage performances of many Broadway musical shows to producers of musical shows around the world," according to its website. "All of our shows may be performed successfully with just solo piano accompaniment, using specially prepared piano-conductor's scores which we supply. Our shows are also available with standard Broadway orchestral arrangements. We do not license parts of shows or individual songs from shows."

Mr. Aborn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hermine; his son and daughter-in-law, Sargent and Audrey; his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Kenneth Duffy; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT.
