The queen of Mamma Mia!'s Broadway dancing queens, Louise Pitre, will vacation from the hit ABBA musical Oct. 21-28. According to her official website, the French-Canadian actress has signed on for another year as Donna, the content mother of the bride, whose life is thrown into turmoil when three of her past lovers, all possible fathers of her daughter, show up for the nuptials.

Pitre orignated the role of Donna in the Toronto production, winning the Dora Award, and on the U.S. national tour before the musical arrived in New York. Mamma Mia!, which netted her a 2002 Tony Award nomination, is Pitre's Broadway debut.

Stepping in during Pitre's vacation is Carol Linnea Johnson, late of Broadway's The Full Monty.

In other Mamma Mia! news, Karen Mason left the show Oct. 6, as previously reported. The cabaret star, who assayed the role of Tonya, was replaced by her understudy, Jeanine Morick. Morick's Broadway credits include The Who's Tommy and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Mamma Mia! collects a couple dozen hit songs by the Swedish supergroup ABBA and shapes them around the story of a single mother and her young daughter, who gets married on a Greek isle. While the daughter plans her future with the love of her life, she and her mother are haunted by three different men who may or may not be her daughter's father.
