Directed by Mark Rucker, Managing Maxine tells the story of the widowed 71-year-old Maxine Levine, who has decided to ask a handsome judge on a date.

According to Asolo notes, "this play explores the bitter and sweet sides of dating as a senior citizen: timeworn bodies with energetic hearts, the mourning of lost spouses, and balancing between family needs and new-found loves. With time nipping at Maxine's heels, she discovers how important it is to embrace life and love regardless of age. This humorous and thought provoking play was inspired by the true story of a couple who lives part time in Sarasota."

The play won the 2009 Gene Gabriel Moore Playwright Award and the 2008 Edgerton Foundation New American Play Awards.

Popular resident actress Sharon Spelman (returning after a two-year absence) stars as Maxine and Howard Elfman is Louis. The ensemble cast also includes Granville Van Dusen, Mackenzie Kyle, Jud Williford, Bethany Weise and Geraldine Librandi.

The play had its world premiere in 2008 at Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. Managing Maxine will feature set design by Timothy R. Mackabee, lighting design by Jesse Belsky and sound design by Kevin Kennedy. Costumes are by Luke Brown.
