Variety reports that Hickey will star as a gay man in the pilot of the untitled half-hour sitcom written by Ann Flett-Giordano, Neil Meron, Chuck Ranberg and Craig Zadan. The comedy concerns two gay men who raised a young woman whose “politics are left-leaning.” Maggie Lawson will portray the daughter. Producers are Touchstone/Paramount/Storyline. John Benjamin Hickey has appeared on Broadway in Love! Valour! Compassion!, Cabaret and The Crucible. His Off-Broadway credits include the premiere of Love! Valour! Compassion! (Obie Award), God’s Heart, The Substance of Fire, On the Bum and The End of the Day. On screen Hickey has been seen in “Me and My Shadows: Life with Judy Garland,” “Sex and the City,” “The Anniversary Party,” “Hamlet,” “The Bone Collector,” “The General’s Daughter,” “Finding North” and “Changing Lanes.”
