News Ma Rainey Star Whoopi Goldberg Hosts for Ailing Letterman on "Late Show," March 10 As the ailing host David Letterman recovers from his bout of shingles, a viral infection, the lineup of guest hosts continues for "The Late Show With David Letterman." Whoopi Goldberg, who currently stars in the title role of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at Broadway's Royale Theatre, will fill in March 10.

Goldberg will interview guests that include one-time stage star Jessica Lange (A Streetcar Named Desire) and comedian Dave Chappelle. Also scheduled to guest host later this week are actor Vince Vaughn ("Swingers"), singer Elvis Costello and former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Will Ferrell.

Prior to the last week's previously scheduled hiatus, actor Bruce Willis and talk show host Regis Philbin headed up the late-night show. No host has been announced yet for this Friday's show.

Costello, who was scheduled to perform as musical guest March 12, will take on both hosting and musical guest duties for the evening. His guests include the upcoming star of the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg Eddie Izzard and "Sex and the City" actress Kim Cattrall.

Actress Hilary Swank of the upcoming Broadway revival of The Miracle Worker is also slated, as a guest, for "The Late Show," March 17.
