Top honors of the evening went to "Modern Family" (Outstanding Comedy Series), "Mad Men" (Outstanding Drama Series) and "Downton Abbey (Masterpiece)" (Outstanding Miniseries or Movie).

Loretta Devine, Gywneth Paltrow, Harry Connick, Jr., the 64th Annual Tony Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors and Sondheim! The Birthday Concert were also recognized as winners of the Creative Emmy Awards, which were presented Sept. 10. Devine received the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for "Grey's Anatomy"; Paltrow received the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for "Glee"; Connick, Jr. took Outstanding Musical Direction for "Harry Connick Jr., In Concert On Broadway"; the Tonys received the Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Program and Outstanding Writing for a Music, Variety or Comedy Special; the Kennedy Center Honors took the Emmy for Outstanding Music, Variety or Comedy Special; and Lonny Price earned the Emmy for Outsanding Direction for a Music, Variety or Comedy Special for Sondheim! The Birthday Concert.
