ZenDog Productions (Glengarry Glen Ross) will co-produce the work with previous presenters, the Argo Theater Company, after a developmental workshop with director Myler (Hank Williams: Lost Highway, It Ain’t Nothin' but the Blues) and musical director Levenson (Annie, Dreamgirls) reworking the piece. 33 to Nothing — which features original songs by Varjas — follows a struggling NYC band. "After spending years toiling in the Lower East Side clubs, an aging group of friends discover their rock and roll passion distinguished as they embark on a new life plan that includes mortgages and 401k's," according to previous show materials.
Argo Theater Company presented the work March 2-April 29. Varjas starred in the production along with Preston Clarke, Ken Forman, Amanda Gruss and director John B. Good.
A member of the Tectonic Theater Project, Varjas appeared in the HBO version of The Laramie Project. As an actor, his work also includes Chaucer In Rome, Tesla's Letters, Beyond Recognition, Territory, The Castle and Sockdolager.
