News Mamma Mia! Becomes 19th Longest-Running Broadway Show July 5 The international hit musical Mamma Mia!, which continues to pack in audiences at the Winter Garden Theatre, becomes the 19th longest-running production in Broadway history July 5.

Mamma Mia! recently celebrated another milestone. On July 3 the musical played its 2,377th performance and surpassed Annie to become the 20th longest-running show in Broadway history. When it plays performance number 2,378 July 5, Mamma Mia! will beat the record previously held by the Cabaret revival and become the 19th longest-running show.

Mamma Mia! currently features Carolee Carmello as Donna Sheridan, Joan Hess as Tanya (Judy McLane returns shortly), Gina Ferrall as Rosie, Carey Anderson as Sophie Sheridan, Andy Kelso as Sky, Michael Mastro as Harry Bright, David McDonald as Sam Carmichael and Pearce Bunting as Bill Austin.

Mamma Mia! employs the hit songs of famed pop group ABBA to tell the story of Sophie Sheridan, a young girl who hopes to discover the identity of her father. On the eve of her wedding, she brings three men from her mother Donna's past back to the Greek island they visited over two decades ago.

Mamma Mia! features music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, a book by Catherine Johnson, direction by Phyllida Lloyd and choreography by Anthony Van Laast. The musical plays the Winter Garden Theatre, which is located in New York City at 1634 Broadway.
