News Mandy Patinkin to Co-Star with Claire Danes in Showtime Pilot "Homeland" Tony and Emmy Award winner Mandy Patinkin, who will return to the New York stage later this winter in the Public Theater production of Compulsion, will also make a return to series television when he co-stars opposite stage and screen star Claire Danes in "Homeland," a political drama pilot for Showtime.

According to deadline.com, Patinkin will play CIA Division Chief emeritus Saul Berenson, who is the main supporter of ambitious CIA officer Carrie Anderson (Danes). The part of Scott Brody, a returning Iraq war veteran whom Anderson suspects of planning an attack on America, has yet to be cast. Patinkin, a Tony Award winner for Evita, has also appeared on Broadway in Sunday in the Park with George, The Wild Party, Falsettos, The Secret Garden, The Shadow Box, Trelawney of the 'Wells,' and in the solo concerts Celebrating Sondheim, Dress Casual and Mamaloshen. He has been a regular on the series "Criminal Minds," "Dead Like Me" and "Chicago Hope" (Emmy Award).

Danes appeared on Broadway in Pygmalion and recently won an Emmy Award for her work in the HBO film "Temple Grandin." She is known for films incluing "William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet" and for the TV series "My So-Called Life."
