Classic Arts News Marek Janowski Quits Monte Carlo Post Conductor Marek Janowski has resigned from his post as artistic director of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic after clashing with the orchestra's board, the web site Musical America reports.

According to Musical America, Janowski said during a rehearsal yesterday that he would step down, citing disagreements with the board over programming for the 2006 season. Janowski added that he was willing to continue to conduct the ensemble if he and the board could resolve their differences, but that he would not remain in his current position.

Janowski is also artistic director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Berlin Radio Symphony. He holds an endowed guest-conductor chair at the Pittsburgh Symphony.
