News Mark Rubinstein to Head Society of London Theatre Producer Mark Rubinstein will succeed Nica Burns as the president of the Society of London Theatre, the trade association that represents the producers, theatre owners and managers of major theatres in central London, according to Variety.

Rubinstein was behind the West End transfer of War Horse and is also represented on the London stage with Butley and Fela!, which will play Sadler's Wells this summer after a run at the National Theatre last fall. Akin to the Broadway League in New York, SOLT oversees collective bargaining with London trade unions, as well as audience development and industry research and statistics.

"I believe my appointment represents an opportunity to look after interests of independent producers at a point when the industry is becoming ever more conglomerate," Rubinstein told Variety. "Theatre ownership chains are bigger than ever before, and in a world where all sides need to be looked after and represented it's good for the health of the industry as a whole that we should all work together."
