Based on the 1960 sci-fi film of the same name, the hit rock musical by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman tells the story of Seymour, a down-and-out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. The show first came to life Off-Broadway in 1982, and remains one of the longest running Off-Broadway shows of all time. It features such songs as "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly, Seymour."

Little Shop will mark the Ford's Theatre debut for both Jones (who played Frankie Valli in the national tour and Vegas productions of Jersey Boys, earning him a Garland Award) and Coker-Jones (Off-Broadway's Fame on 42nd Street and Evil Dead). The couple met on a production of Grease in St. Louis.

Opening night is March 17. The cast also includes Christopher Bloch as Mr. Mushnik, Even Casey as Orin, Felicia Curry as Ronnette, Elliot Dash as Voice of Audrey II, Eleasha Gamble as Chiffon and Kara-Tameika Watkins as Crystal.

Coy Middlebrook (making his Ford's directorial debut) will direct Little Shop of Horrors, which will feature choreography by Karma Camp, music direction by Christopher Youstra, scenic design by Court Watson, costume design by Wade Laboissonniere, lighting design by Chris Lee and sound design by David Budries.

Following the runaway success of the Off-Broadway musical, a film version was released in 1986 starring Rick Moranis as Seymour, Ellen Greene as Audrey and Steve Martin as masochistic dentist Orin Scrivello. A new production of Little Shop was presented on Broadway in 2003. It starred Hunter Foster, Kerry Butler and Douglas Sills.
