It's a busy time for Mars, who has also just released her latest solo recording, "Call It Home: The Music of Richard Gray," on the LML Music label. To celebrate the new CD, Mars will play several concert dates within the next few months, including "A Sentimental Journey with Norman Leyden and the Oregon Symphony" (May 25-26) and "Mars on Broadway: A Concert with the Portland Gay Men's Chorus" (June 13). The singing actress will also play Mother in Portland Center Stage's production of Ragtime this fall.

Mars has been honored with five Portland Drama Critics awards: four for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical — for her portrayals of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl (Musical Theatre Company), Mabel in Chaps (Artist's Repertory Theater), Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes (Musical Theatre Company), and Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense (Triangle Productions); the fifth for Dinner With Friends (Artist's Repertory Theater).
