The Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice musical will play the Oregon venue July 29-Aug. 16 in the Deb Fennell Auditorium. For ticket information visit www.broadwayrose.com.

About playing the role that was created on the London stage by Elaine Paige and on Broadway by Patti LuPone, Mars told Playbill.com, "It's difficult to distill my thoughts on playing this part, one of the greats of the musical stage. The opportunity to play Eva Peron is a thrilling one; playing a woman who created a marked amount of controversy, who, simultaneously, inspired an unprecedented amount of love and admiration for her by her people. Her journey runs the gamut of the juiciest life experiences possible, not to mention an incredible score by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Weber. I'm ready to jump in, guns blazing!"

It's a busy time for Mars, who has also just released her latest solo recording, "Call It Home: The Music of Richard Gray," on the LML Music label. To celebrate the new CD, Mars will play several concert dates within the next few months, including "A Sentimental Journey with Norman Leyden and the Oregon Symphony" (May 25-26) and "Mars on Broadway: A Concert with the Portland Gay Men's Chorus" (June 13). The singing actress will also play Mother in Portland Center Stage's production of Ragtime this fall.

Mars has been honored with five Portland Drama Critics awards: four for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical — for her portrayals of Fanny Brice in Funny Girl (Musical Theatre Company), Mabel in Chaps (Artist's Repertory Theater), Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes (Musical Theatre Company), and Sister Robert Ann in Nunsense (Triangle Productions); the fifth for Dinner With Friends (Artist's Repertory Theater). Her regional credits are numerous.
