The April arrival is billed as a "play with music," and will feature Short reprising some of his more familiar characters, including Ed Grimley and other creations from his "SCTV" and "Saturday Night Live" days, as well as his later cable creation Jimmy Glick.
The venture was created by Short and the Hairspray writing team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
The Post reported that the show was inspired by Short's annual Christmas party. "It's like old-fashioned Hollywood with Marty sitting on a piano and acting like Judy Garland," Mr. Shaiman said.
Short recently starred in the Los Angeles debut of The Producers as Leo Bloom.
