Film and stage actress Mary-Louise Parker will leave the cast of the Off- Broadway production of Alan Ayckbourn's comedy/thriller, Communicating Doors, Nov. 8, said her agent, William Morris' Frank Frattaroli (Sept. 14). Show spokesman Bob Fennell confirmed that Parker would leave "sometime in November." Fennell said the show has plans to continue and that Parker's role would be recast.

Produced by Harriet Newman Leve and James D. Stern, the play began previews at Off-Broadway's Variety Arts Theatre (recent home of 2 Pianos, 4 Hands) Aug. 5 for an opening Aug. 20.

Patricia Hodges and David McCallum co-star in the piece, which takes place in one hotel room -- during three different time periods, 1974, 1994 and 2014. The title refers to the fact that walking through the room's doors facilitates the change from one era to another.

Hodges' credits include Six Degrees of Separation and The Normal Heart. McCallum recently starred in Primary Stages' Nasty Little Secrets but is best known for playing Kuryakin on TV's "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Parker's Broadway credits include Prelude To A Kiss and Circle in the Square's Bus Stop. Other cast-members include Candy Buckley (Defying Gravity), Gerrit Graham (Bouncers) and Mark H. Dold.

Director Christopher Ashley staged such Off-Broadway comedies as Jeffrey, Bunny Bunny and Blown Sideways Through Life. Other Ayckbourn plays include The Norman Conquests, Woman In Mind, Absurd Person Singular, Henceforward, Bedroom Farce and A Small Family Business. Communicating Doors won the 1996 Writers Guild Award for Best West End Play and a 1997 Best Comedy "Moliere Award" in Paris.
