Karen Mason and Barbara Walsh are among the guest stars at the upcoming special edition of Jamie deRoy & friends, the MAC Award-winning variety show.
The Nov. 23 evening (8:30 PM) at the West Bank Café's Laurie Beechman Theatre will offer performances from Mason and Walsh as well as those from comedy legends Monteith & Rand, comic Karith Foster and singers Jarvis Moorehead, Ryan Perry and Lennie Watts. Barry Kleinbort will direct the concert, which will feature musical direction by Rod Hausen.
Karen Mason just completed an acclaimed run in the hit musical Mamma Mia!. She also received much praise for her performance as Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, where she was standby for Glenn Close, Betty Buckley and Elaine Paige. Mason's other Broadway credits include Jerome Robbins' Broadway and Torch Song Trilogy. She appeared in the Off-Broadway revue And the World Goes 'Round, and she is one of the top draws on the cabaret scene. Her solo recordings are numerous and include "When the Sun Comes Out," "Not So Simply Broadway" and "Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!"
Barbara Walsh received a Tony nomination for her work as Trina in Falsettos; her other Broadway credits include Big, Blood Brothers, Nine and Rock 'N Roll ! The First 5000 Years. Off-Broadway she has been seen in Forbidden Broadway and Birds of Paradise, and her regional credits include The Most Happy Fella, Houdini, Exactly Like You, A Streetcar Named Desire and Ragtime. Walsh's screen credits feature roles in "Life with Mikey" and "Law & Order."
