Playbill.com has learned that Cavenaugh, who was also seen in the revised version of It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman, will play Brice Calder, an understudy in the episode's fictional Broadway production of Icarus. Calder comes under suspicion when an actor is killed during a stunt.

TVGuide.com previously reported that the "story will focus on a high-flying show called Icarus, which detectives begin investigating when a botched stunt leads to one of the actor's death. Suspects include a 'high-strung and larger than life' director possibly modeled after Spider-Man's one-time director Julie Taymor. The episode also features a bisexual rock-star composer named Arno."

The tenth season of "Criminal Intent" premiered May 1 on the USA Network. An air date for the Spider-Man-themed episode has yet to be announced.

* When performances of Spider-Man resume May 12 at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre, audiences can expect major changes to the book as well as new songs by Bono and The Edge.

In recent weeks newcomers have been added to the creative team, including playwright Roberto Aguirre Sacasa (a Marvel comics writer and an acclaimed dramatist), director Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz) and choreographer Chase Brock. Brock recently provided musical staging for the City Center Encores! production of Lost in the Stars and also worked on the Wii video game "Dance on Broadway."

It was previously announced that "due to the new schedule, director and co-book writer Julie Taymor will no longer continue in her day-to-day duties with the production." In an April 14 statement to the New York Times, Taymor's spokesperson said, "Julie feels that the early reviews that published before the show was ready to open sadly do not reflect the show that is closing this weekend. Most critics, in fact, will have never seen this latest version before they see one that greatly changes major threads of the story, choreography and songs."

The cast features Reeve Carney as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Next to Normal Tony nominee Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson, T.V. Carpio as Arachne and Broadway veteran Patrick Page as Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin.
