The annual benefit brings together Broadway stars to perform songs from shows and roles in which they'd never be cast. Playbill.com previously reported that Tony nominee Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, The Submission, "Glee") would be part of the event.
In addition to the newly announced Benanti (Gypsy, Women On The Verge…), Butz (Catch Me If You Can, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and James (The Book of Mormon), the event will feature Steven Pasquale (Reasons to Be Pretty, "Rescue Me") and NBC "Smash" stars Tony nominee Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Legally Blonde) and Megan Hilty (9 to 5, Wicked). Phil Reno will musical direct.
The 6:30 PM evening, hosted by Lewis Black, will also honor the authors of the musical Carrie – Academy Award-winning composer Michael Gore, Academy Award-winning lyricist Dean Pitchford and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen – for their "bold, daring, risk-taking spirit."
Additional talent for the 2012 Miscast gala will be announced at a later date.
Gala tickets begin at $500, with mezzanine level show-only tickets available for $79 (general admission) and $99 (reserved seating). For tickets click here, or phone Kathryn Banas at (212) 727-7722, ext. 232.
