News McCarter's Ten-Person Into the Woods Will Feature Noah Brody, Ben Steinfeld, Liz Hayes, Jennifer Mudge and More McCarter Theatre Center will present Fiasco Theater’s reimaging of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods May 3-June 2. Opening night is May 10.

Fresh from their acclaimed six-actor Off-Broadway production of Cymbeline, the Fiasco Theater staging will feature ten actors and a single piano. The ensemble includes Jessie Austrian, Noah Brody, Paul L. Coffey, Andy Grotelueschen, Liz Hayes, Claire Karpen, Jennifer Mudge, Patrick Mulryan, Ben Steinfeld and Emily Young.

McCarter Theatre artistic director Emily Mann said in a statement, “When we were searching for the perfect project to cap the season, my associate producer Adam Immerwahr, shared with me that Fiasco Theater was putting together a new take on Into the Woods – and I was immediately intrigued…With a tiny cast and some wild doubling, a set of brilliant actor-musicians and great creativity, this will be an Into the Woods that you can’t see anywhere else.”

The upcoming production, co-directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld, will feature choreography by Lisa Shriver and musical direction/piano accompaniment by Matt Castle. The design team includes Tony Award-winning set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Whitney Locher, lighting designer Tim Cryan, sound designer Darron L West, vocal coach and Alexander Technique by Kathryn Armour. The production stage manager is Cheryl Mintz with assistant stage manager Marcy Victoria Reed.
