Billed as a site-specific performance installation, the work is described as "both a physical journey and a journey of the imagination." Viewers will travel to several locations in Manhattan, where Warner sets her "stage" through "images, symbols, artifacts, and sometimes people, then invites the viewer to traverse them, looking inward and outward to the landscape we call home." The work was first conceived in 1999 by Warner and produced in a partially vacant office tower, for the London International Festival of Theatre. In 2000, she reset the piece throughout the city of London for the Perth International Arts Festival. The director once again re-imagines The Angel Project for New York City.

Warner recently helmed the Broadway revival of Euripides' Medea starring Fiona Shaw. The production which opened Dec. 10, 2002 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and played through Feb. 22, 2003. The staging garnered Tony noms for its director and star.
