Harris, who created several iconic stage roles and received a 2002 Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement, died Aug. 24 in West Chatham, MA. The cause was congestive heart failure. She was 87.
Harris received Tony Awards for her performances in The Belle of Amherst, The Last of Mrs. Lincoln, Forty Carats, The Lark and I Am a Camera. She was Tony-nominated for her work in Marathon '33, Skyscraper, The Au Pair Man, Lucifer's Child and The Gin Game.
