Classic Arts News Memorial Tribute to Peter Jennings Includes Performances by Yo-Yo Ma and Wynton Marsalis Cellist Yo-Yo Ma and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis were among the musicians who performed in a September 20 tribute to the late television-news anchor Peter Jennings, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The tribute took place at Carnegie Hall, where Jennings, who died of lung cancer on August 7, sat on the board of directors.

The evening's other performers included fiddler Natalie McMasters and the Gates of Praise Choir, as well as the New York Police Department's Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps, which opened the tribute.

Speakers at the memorial included actor Alan Alda, Nightline anchor Ted Koppel, ABC News president David Westin, and Jennings's children Chris and Elizabeth.
