While Al Pacino wraps up his run in the Broadway production of The Merchant of Venice Feb. 20, fellow Academy Award winner Abraham ("Amadeus") will offer an encore of his acclaimed performance through March 13 at Pace University's Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts.
Darko Tresnjak will again stage Merchant, which will also tour to Chicago (March 16-27), Boston (March 29-April 10) and Los Angeles (April 14-24). The production sold-out its initial Off-Broadway run in 2007 and earned critical praise when it played the Royal Shakespeare Company's Complete Works Festival the same year.
The cast will also feature Kate MacCluggage (39 Steps Off-Broadway) as Portia, Lucas Hall (Othello for TFANA) as Bassanio, Melissa Miller (I Never Sang for My Father) as Jessica, and returning 2007 cast members Vince Nappo as Lorenzo, Tom Nelis as Antonio and Christen Simon as Nerissa.
Also in the cast are Andrew Dahl as Balthazar, Grant Goodman as Solanio, Christopher Randolph as Aaragon, the Duke and Tubal, Matthew Schneck as Solerio, Ted Schneider as Gratiano, Raphael Nash Thompson as Morocco and Jacob Ming-Trent as Launcelot Gobbo.
The production has set design by Tony Award winner John Lee Beatty, lighting design by David Weiner, costume design by Linda Cho, sound design by Jane Shaw and video design by Matthew Myhrum.
