Classic Arts News Metropolitan Museum Gives Free Screening of Jos_ Lim‹n Documentary A free screening of a film about dancer and choreographer Jos_ Lim‹n will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
The documentary, entitled Lim‹n: A Life Beyond Words, looks at the choreographer's life and work, from his birth in Mexico through his death in 1972. With his family, Lim‹n fled Mexico during the revolution, and he found his way to New York during the Depression to become a painter; eventually he discovered dance, and joined the Humphrey-Weidman Company before starting his own group.

The film combines readings from Lim‹n's memoir, interviews, and footage of Lim‹n's works, with the dances taking on, in the second half of the film, an increasing role in the narrative of his life.

Lim‹n is also being seen on PBS television stations around the country, including Pittsburgh's WQED on September 30.
