Classic Arts News Miami City Ballet Features Two Company Premieres in Season Opener Miami City Ballet opens its 2004-05 season tonight at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with two company premieres, The Reassuring Effects of Form and Poetry, by Trey McIntyre, and Piazzolla Caldera by Paul Taylor.
The program, which runs at the Fort Lauderdale venue through Sunday, also includes George Balanchine's Divertimento No. 15. It will be reprised at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach November 5-7 and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach November 12-14.

Works by Balanchine, Taylor, and Jerome Robbins round out the company's season, which runs through early April.

Miami City Ballet was founded in 1986 by Toby Lerner Ansin and Edward Villella. Villella, the company's artistic director, was a prot_g_ of Balanchine's and the first American-born male star at the New York City Ballet. MCB is one of the country's largest companies, with a roster of 48 dancers.
