The awards recognize "individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to various fields in the city's entertainment and digital media industries."

The 7:30 PM awards ceremony, which is hosted by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Mayors Office of Media & Entertainment Commissioner Katherine L. Oliver, includes a special performance by cast members from Kinky Boots, with an introduction by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein.

In addition to McDonald (Porgy and Bess, Ragtime) and Cumming (Macbeth, Cabaret), the 2013 honorees include Academy Award nominee Spike Lee ("Do the Right Thing," "Passing Strange"), president of HBO Documentary Films Sheila Nevins, NYC-based blogging platform and social networking website Tumblr, and Harvey and Bob Weinstein.

The 2013 Award for Lifetime Achievement will be presented to Emmy Award-winning television host and broadcast journalist Barbara Walters.

"The honorees of the 2013 'Made in NY Awards' have made New York City proud by establishing their remarkable careers here," said Mayor Bloomberg in a statement. "They are a part of a community of thousands of New Yorkers who together have brought the City to the forefront of the entertainment and digital media industries, helping to make New York City an exciting and thriving place to be."
