News Michael Learned to Star in Blessing's Body of Water at Guthrie June 11-July 3 Playwright Lee Blessing, who just scored a triumph in the Off-Broadway premiere of Going to St. Ives, will see the world premiere of his A Body of Water at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, June 11-July 3. Michael Learned stars and Ethan McSweeney directs.

The plot of Body of Water is described thusly: "A man and a woman awake in an unfamiliar house atop a mountain surrounded by water. Nothing but the air is clear — they have no idea where they are or how they got there, or even who they are. Bemused concern becomes anxious despair: they have lost their long-term memory." Learned, who was directed by McSweeney on Broadway in The Best Man, will play one half of the couple. Learned also starred on Broadway in The Sisters Rosensweig and The Three Sisters.

Blessing's Going to St. Ives recently opened at Primary Stages, netting a batch of admiring reviews. The long-time playwright's other works include Cobb, A Walk in the Woods, Fortinbras, Two Rooms, Chesapeake, Eleemosynary and Down the Road.
