Regional News Michael Urie Will Take on Title Role in Hamlet The actor will star in a 2018 production of the classic tragedy for the Shakespeare Theatre Company in D.C.

It will be a busy season for Michael Urie, the actor known for his work on screen in Ugly Betty and on the stage in Buyer & Cellar. In addition to the fall Off-Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy (now retitled Torch Song), the actor will also take on the title role in William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Urie will play the Danish prince for the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. Directed by Artistic Director Michael Kahn, the limited engagement will be seen at the Sidney Harman Hall January 16–February 25, 2018. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The actor currently stars in The Government Inspector at New World Stages through August 20. He has also been seen on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Off-Broadway in Angels in America.
