News Michele Pawk, John Dossett and Brian d'Arcy James to Sing "Alternative Torch" The "Alternative Torch" series, which blends rock and Broadway, continues May 22 at Symphony Space.

The 8 PM concert will spotlight the work of Matthew Friedman, Rosemary Loar, Sean McCourt and Catherine Porter. Those scheduled to interpret these composers' songs include Manu Narayan, Randy Redd, Beth Thompson, Michele Pawk, John Dossett, Brian d'Arcy James, Jim Price and Becca Ayers. The performers will be backed by a four-piece band comprising Jim Abbott on keyboards, Gary Seligson on drums, Leo Huppert on bass and Roger Butterly on guitar. Emily Mikesell will be a guest violinist.

Rosemary Loar, who created the "Torch" series, will host the concert, which will also feature back-up singers Alicia Irving and Daniel and Evan Friedman.
