Canadian playwright and mathematician John Mighton's Possible Worlds completes its West Coast premiere July 29 at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre in the Lee Strasberg Creative Center. Billed as a "cubist love story" and featuring a protaganist who literally loses his brain, Possible Worlds began perfromances June 22.

Financial analyst George has no mind left, but that enables him to experience several universes with varying results. In all, he meets Joyce, but in each, she is completely different — she may be a shy neurologist or a sexy and strong businesswoman out to seduce him. Possible Worlds was made into a recent film directed by Robert LePage and starring Tom McCamus and Tilda Swinton.

Scott Feldsher directs. Co-founder and former artistic director of San Diego's Sledgehammer Theatre, he directed True West, Mac Wellman's 7 Blowjobs and Kelly Stuart's The Peacock Screams When the Lights Go Out for the company. Currently with OperaZero, Feldsher penned the libretti to My Eye Was a Camera, The World Is Round and A Sleep of Reason Creates Monsters.

Featured in Possible Worlds are Ron Pisatruo (George), Nina Sallinen (Joyce), Edwin Craig (Berkley), Ernesto Rowe (Williams) and Phil Johnson (as Penfield).

Designing the show are Michelle Reil (sets), David Cuthbert (lighting), Pea Hicks (sound), Melanie Watnick (costumes) and Juan Carols Malpeli (props).
