The play, a co-production between PH, Women's Project and La Jolla Playhouse, is directed by Rebecca Taichman.

The production began previews Oct. 13 and had its official opening on Nov. 1. The additional week represents the only extension possible. The New York premiere features the earlier La Jolla cast, including Cherise Boothe, two-time Audelco Award nominee Angela Lewis, Nikiya Mathis, LeRoy McClain, J. Mallory-McCree, Adrienne C. Moore and Tony Award winner Tonya Pinkins.

Here's how the play is billed: "With potential for more but nowhere to put it, 16-year-old Annie (Lewis) has a choice: honor the pregnancy pact she made with her friends, or find the path to a brighter future. Milk Like Sugar is a searing, sharply observant new play that finds savage humor and gritty poetry in one inner-city girl's struggle to carve out a life beyond the only one she knows."

PH is at 416 W. 42nd Street in Manhattan. For tickets and information, visit www.TicketCentral.com or www.PlaywrightsHorizons.org.
