Remember Miss Lulu Bett by Zona Gale? Few do today, but back in 1920, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Now, 80 years later, Off Broadway's Mint Theatre is reviving the drama, March 21-April 23. The production officially opens on March 26.

Gale was only the third dramatist to win the Pulitzer, and the first woman to do so. The play tells the story of an old maid who finds happiness. Soon after Lulu Bett first opened, Gales bowed to pressure and changed the ending to something more palatable to audiences’ tastes. The Mint production will offer a small history lesson by restoring the play's original ending.

James B. Nicola will direct a cast featuring Nick Dantos, Peter Davies, Katharine Leonard, Valerie Leonard, Melissa O'Malley, Angela Reed (in the title role), Ed Sala, John Sloan, and Billie Lou Watt. Vicki R. Davis will design the set, Marianne Powell-Parker is the costume designer and Michael Gottlieb will design lighting.

Tickets range $15-25. The Mint is located at 311 W. 43rd Street. For more information, call (212) 315-0231.
