News Miracle Worker Will Shut Down After NC Tryout; Bway Plan Being Reworked Producer Barry Weissler has announced that the upcoming pre-Broadway engagement of William Gibson's The Miracle Worker will suspend performances March 30 following its engagement at the Charlotte Repertory Theatre in Charlotte, NC.

The production stars Hilary Swank and co-stars Skye McCole Bartusiak and is under the direction of Marianne Elliott.

"There are several reasons that the producers have decided to close the production at this time," Weissler said in a statement. "We value the work of the creative staff and especially of Ms. Swank. The truth of the matter is that the production needs some reworking and is not ready in our opinion to open on Broadway so soon."

Previews were to start April 8 at the Music Box. "We are committed to the best production possible," Weissler said. "It is the plan that Swank and Bartusiak will continue with the project and we can announce a new schedule shortly."
