News Miss Saigon Anniversary Performance Sells-Out in Minutes
The Sept. 22 West End gala performance of Miss Saigon, which will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the musical's original London opening, sold out in minutes of the Aug. 26 on-sale date.

A flood of fans hoping to purchase tickets (at the 1989 prices of £22.50, £20, £16.50 and £13.50) gathered in lines around the block at the Prince Edward Theatre, while thousands of others who attempted to purchase tickets online overwhelmed the box-office ticketing system, causing the Delfont Mackintosh Theatre website to crash.

Representatives estimate that over 18,000 people attempted to purchase tickets for the Sept. 22 gala performance. The Prince Edward Theatre seats 1,700.

A limited number of tickets will be available the day of the gala.

The cast of the current London revival will be joined by cast members from the original production for the evening that will be becorded for BBC Radio 2 and will be broadcast in its entirety Sept. 28.

Miss Saigon stars Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer, Eva Noblezada as Kim, Alistair Brammer as Chris, Tamsin Carroll as Ellen, Kwang-Ho Hong as Thuy, Hugh Maynard as John and Rachelle Ann Go as Gigi.

Miss Saigon has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg with lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. and Alain Boublil, adapted from original French lyrics by Alain Boublil with additional lyrics by Michael Mahler.

This new production is directed by Laurence Connor with musical staging by Bob Avian and additional choreography by Geoffrey Garratt, production design by Totie Driver and Matt Kinley based on an original concept by Adrian Vaux, costume design by Andreane Neofitou, lighting design by Bruno Poet, projections realized by Luke Halls, sound design by Mick Potter and orchestrations by William David Brohn. Musical supervision is by Stephen Brooker and John Rigby. Musical direction is by Alfonso Casado Trigo.
