Miss Saigon, the long-running Boubil-Schonberg musical, will celebrate its eighth anniversary on Broadway April 11 at the Broadway Theater and enter its ninth year of performances the following day.

In its eight-year run, Miss Saigon has become the eighth longest running musical in Broadway history -- and will reach a total of 3,341 performances on the April 11 anniversary date.

Currently in the cast are Luoyong Wang, Will Chase, Leonard Joseph, Yancey Arias, Margaret Ann Gates and Lea Salonga, returning to the role which made her famous, Kim.

Also in the cast are four original company members who have been with the show since 1991: Alan Ariano, Francis J. Cruz, Sylvia Dohi and Ray Santos.

When Miss Saigon first opened, reviews were mixed, and the show itself was almost overshadowed by a controversy over casting Englishman Jonathan Pryce as the Eurasian engineer. Pryce stayed on and won a Tony, though soon thereafter the show's leads and ensemble would become more ethnically diverse.
