FL's Caldwell Theatre Company will close its 1998-99 season with the world premiere of Oscar E. Moore's adaptation of "La Jument du Roi" by Jean Canolle. The King's Mare begins previews April 11 for a run April 16-May 23.

In Mare, King Henry VIII can't stay happily married. He created the Church of England so he could divorce Catherine of Aragon after 20 years of wedlock, with his second and third wife (Anne Boleyn & Jane Seymour) meeting untimely deaths at Henry's hands. As the King ages, his reputation as a good husband sufficiently damaged, he meets the "queen-sized" Anne of Cleves. Comedy ensues as The King attempts to end his fourth marriage.

Moore is a graduate of Hofstra University's Theater Arts program. Previous plays include Unwanted ‹ The Very Ugly Duckling, and Pig o' My Heart. With Michael Aman, Moore is currently at work on Masada, a Musical Drama, featuring music by Benjamin Rosenbluth. Masada is currently under development at the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.

Michael Hall directs a cast including: Elizabeth Dimon, Michael O. Smith, John FitzGibbon, George Kapetan, John Felix, John Fionte, Dan Leonard, Coleen McDermott, Joy Johnson.
