News More Beer! Drunk Shakespeare, Where Actors Drink During the Show, Gets Second Extension The Drunk Shakespeare Society's world-premiere production of Drunk Shakespeare, described as "an irreverent and outrageous new theatrical experience," directed by David Hudson, has been given a second extension.

The work, conceived by Scott Griffin and Three Day Hangover (David Hudson, Lori Wolter Hudson and Beth Gardiner) and produced by Griffin, will now play through Oct. 18. Performances began March 26 at Quinn's Bar Upstairs in Manhattan.

Here's how the show is billed: "A self-proclaimed 'drinking club with a Shakespeare problem,' The Drunk Shakespeare Society invites audiences to join them for a meeting in their society lounge. The evening begins with one actor drinking more than five shots of whiskey before attempting to lead the cast through a Shakespearean story in under 90 minutes. The results are messy and outrageous. Every night is different and truly anything can happen! On Friday and Saturday nights, a 'late show' starts at 10 PM where the drunk actor from the early show keeps drinking, and performing."

Drunk Shakespeare is performed nightly by a rotating company of actors, which includes Tiffany Abercrombie, Lucas Calhoun, Kristin Friedlander, Julia Giolzetti, Josh Hyman, Whit Leyenberger, Christina Liu, Lindsey Hope Pearlman, Damiyr Shuford and Adam Thomas Smith.

Other members of the creative team include Maddie Bucci (set design), Caitlin Cisek (costume design) and Gordon Hamilton (composer). One "exclusive enhanced experience," priced $500, is available per performance and includes a regal throne and crown for the performance, up to two guests seated in the royal chambers, one bottle of Moet & Chandon, caviar delivered to your throne, handmade chocolates, two signature cocktails with premium liquor per guest and decision-making power for points of action in the play and additional surprise treats throughout the evening.

Quinn's Bar Upstairs is located at 356 West 44th Street (2nd Floor). For tickets and more information, visit DrunkShakespeare.com.
