News More Can See eurydice as Ruhl's Off-Broadway Myth Extends Again Sarah Ruhl's re-imagining of the classic myth eurydice has again extended its Off-Broadway run at Second Stage. The production will now play through Aug. 12.

Previews began May 30, and the production opened June 18 for a run originally scheduled through July 21. The work was originally extended one week to July 27 and now adds two more weeks of performances.

Les Waters — who staged the Ruhl work at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2004, then at Yale Repertory Theatre (with this cast) — returns for the New York staging at the midtown Manhattan stage.

From the pen of Pulitzer Prize finalist Ruhl (The Clean House) comes a new take on "the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through the eyes of its heroine as she journeys to the underworld and struggles to retain her memories of her lost love." The work premiered at Madison Repertory Theatre in 2003 and has also been seen at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

The cast of eurydice includes Maria Dizzia (The Wooden Breeks) as Eurydice, Gian-Murray Gianino (Psyche) as Loud Stone, Carla Harting (Orson's Shadow) as Little Stone, Ramiz Monsef (All That I Will Ever Be) as Big Stone, Joseph Parks (The Sweetest Swing in Baseball at Magic Theatre) as Orpheus, Charles Shaw Robinson (The Cradle Will Rock) as Eurydice's Father and Mark Zeisler (Brooklyn Boy) as Nasty Interesting Man/Lord of the Underworld.

The design team comprises Scott Bradley (scenic), Meg Neville (costume), Russell H. Champa (lighting) and Bray Poor (sound). This summer, Second Stage continues its annual Uptown Festival with Josh Tobiessen's Election Day (July 16-Aug. 18) at the McGinn/Cazale Theater.

Tickets to eurydice at Second Stage, 307 West 43rd Street (just off Eighth Ave.), are available by calling (212) 246-4422. For more information, visit 2st.com.
