Back in 1993, San Francisco's Eastenders Repertory Company premiered Twyla's Boy, a well-received "coming-out" play by Bay area dramatist Charles E. Polly. Now the company will stage part two of Polly's semi-autobiographical "Twyla Trilogy," Aug. 24-Sept. 6. Titled Twyla's Story, the continuation follows Ervin, a young gay man returning from San Francisco to his family in Appalachia. He discovers he's grown away from both his family and its community.

Craig Dickerson plays Ervin, while Suzan Kendall repeats her Twyla's Boy duties as mama Twyla. Also in the cast are Cambron Williams, Rebecca Moutray and James Kitzmiller.

Author Polly expects to workshop the Twyla conclusion, June Bug Music, "in the near future."
