News Mos Def and Beth Fowler Join Jan. 31 MCC Benefit Mos Def (Topdog/Underdog) and Beth Fowler (The Boy From Oz) are not two performers you would necessarily think of at the same time. But patrons of the Jan. 31 benefit for MCC Theater will see them both.

Mos Def and Fowler have joined a cast that already includes Sandra Bernhard, Michael Imperioli, Josh Lucas, Audra McDonald, Julianna Margulies, Amanda Peet and Mary-Louise Parker.

Entitled Escape: 6 Ways to Get Away, the evening at Circle in the Square Theater will feature staged readings of several one-act plays. Titles include Jon Robin Baitz's My Beautiful Goddamn City (directed by John Rando), Doug Hughes' Madagascar (directed by Doug Hughes), Peter Hedges' A New Kind of George (directed by Hedges), Neil LaBute's Stand-Up (directed by Erica Gould) and Tim Blake Nelson's and the will becomes again a garden (directed by Doug Hughes). An excerpt from the new musical Miami will also be presented. Miami, set in 1959, features a book by Wendy Wasserstein, music by Jack Feldman, lyrics by Bruce Sussman and Feldman and direction by John Rando.

Show time is 7:30 PM.
