Classic Arts News Much-Anticipated EMI Tristan Debuts on Billboard Chart EMI's new recording of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde debuted on the Billboard classical chart this week at number 15.
The highly anticipated three-disc recording stars tenor Plšcido Domingo as Tristan, a role he has never sung live. Many observers have predicted that it will be the last major studio recording of an opera, as record companies turn to lower-budget live recordings and shift from CDs to DVDs.

Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble's Silk Road Journeys: Beyond the Horizon remained at number one. American Angels, the penultimate recording from the early-music group Anonymous 4, jumped from number 19 to number two in its 67th week on the chart.

On the classical-crossover chart, Il Divo, Josh Groban, and the soundtrack to Star Wars Episode III remained in the first three spots. The only new entry was Peace of Our Minds, a collection of orginal compositions by former Seinfeld star John O'Hurley, which debuted at number 13.
