The Democratic National Convention will feel something akin to the electric thrill Broadway audiences are enjoying when the cast of The Music Man performs "76 Trombones" on the first day of the convention, Aug. 14.
Craig Bierko, Broadway's Harold Hill, will lead the company in Meredith Willson's wailing piece of brass-band Americana, accompanied by a 300 piece marching band. The cast will fly to Los Angeles on their night off and return for the Tuesday Aug. 15 performance at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre.
Vice-President Albert Gore, the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, has selected as his veep Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman.
