News Musical Comedy About Gun Control Will Take Shape in NYC Machine Gun America: A Play With Guns. And Songs. will play this year’s Fringe Festival.

Gun control has been a heated issue in America, and now Machine Gun America: A Play With Guns. And Songs. will face the issue with musical theatre. The show will play this year’s New York City Fringe Festival this month.

Written by Joseph Huff-Hannon with songs by Huff-Hannon and Oscar Lopez, performances will be held August 13 at 7:15 PM, August 15 at 9:45 PM, August 22 at 4:30 PM, August 24 at 4:45 PM and August 27 at 2 PM at Venue 2: Flamboyan Theater at The Clemente.

Here’s how the show is billed: “Star-crossed lovers tangle with well-armed toddlers, a powerful gun rights leader, and depressed gun safety mascot, Eddie Eagle, in this fact-is-stranger-than-fiction musical farce. Inspired by bizarre but real news stories, and America's enduring affair with firearms.”

The Frack Theatre (Sam Clark, Oscar Lopez and Lindsay Morris) presents the production, directed by Matt Renskers.

The cast includes Emily Donald, Brandon Ferraro, Conor McGee, Tim Murray, Chelsea Picken and Jeremy Varner.

Other members of the creative team include Molly Ballerstein (assistant director), Keaton Grant (stage manager), John Turner (music), Charlie Johnson (musical numbers) and Keil Troisi (multimedia).
